Colposcopy and Transvaginal Ultrasound worry

Hello

I've been having some issues since the 1st November. It started with heavy clear discharge daily, no odour. I've not had this before. I then had some bloody discharge after sex on 3 occasions. I was having pain shooting from my belly button downwards whenever I urinated.

I had Uti tests which came back negative. I've had some vaginal swabs taken and those too are negative.

The last few weeks I've had sharp pains low down on my left hand side and constipation.

The doctor has just referred me for a transvaginal ultrasound on the 12th January, and a colposcopy in a few weeks. The doctors have no appointments for a blood test until the 21st January. I have a smear test due in a couple of days as well (about 3 months late due to a house move)

I've not had any issues like this before and I'm extremely anxious about ovarian or cervical cancer. I'm 32 with 3 children.

When all this issues started I had started the contraceptive pill, I took it one day on the first day of my period before changing my mind and not taking it anymore. This was a week before these symptoms started but I'm still having them now 2 and bit months later. The first GP I spoke to said this is all related to that one pill and I will be fine. The next GP I've spoken to has said it can't possibly be that and has booked me in for tests saying it could be an ovarian cyst but my symptoms don't add up and mentioned it could be cancerous but due to my age it is less likely. This of course has made me worry a lot more. Has anyone else had similar issues at all?

I have previously been to a breast clinic regarding enlarged lymph nodes in my armpit which they scanned and thought were due to my covid vaccination. They are still there now which is almost 11 months ago. I am concerned this may somehow be linked.

Thank you

  • Hi Justmehere,

I can certainly understand this must be unsettling and I know the waiting for appointments and results is never easy. I'm sure being referred for all these tests is a bit worrying, but it's good that the doctor is being thorough in trying to find answers, and also that you don't have too long to wait for your appointments.

I know it's easier said than done, but try not to assume anything at this point - take things one day and one step at a time, and use any appointments as opportunities to talk through any concerns or questions you have.

Meanwhile if others here have similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
