I am so sorry to hear of your experience so far. I know that this is a worrying time, especially when results are inconclusive, but in some cases this is unavoidable.  We need to be patient to ensure that we get a definite diagnosis and can get the correct treatment. There have been many people here who have had a good outcome, despite the  delay. Hopefully, some of them will come along to chat to you soon. The speed with which all the tests are being done is normal, so please don't read anything untoward into this.

Hi, I had milk ducts removed a couple of days ago due to inverted bleeding nipple. I was the same everything moved very quickly but I think that's partly because the breast clinic seemed so efficient. I hope you have the same experience as me, as all the staff were so caring and compationate. I'm only 2 days after surgery and the recovery was a lot better than I thought and not as painful as I'd imagined it would be. Wishing you good luck and a speedy recovery.

Thank you @jolamine. I realise its actually a little crazy to say that I'd be less worried if things had gone slowly, but it seems this whole experience has part of your mind doing cartwheels whilst the logical part of your mind tries to tell it not to! 

Hi, No results yet. They said it will be about 3 weeks before I get them. Just to give you an idea I stopped having paracetamol yesterday  and things feeling a lot better today (day 3). Take care, heres to a better New Year for you.

I'm sorry to hear that you have problems with your breast, the breast services are really good at getting on with treatment which is much nicer than ending up on a long, long list, and worrying about the outcome. Being on a shorter list has its advantages less time to become anxious although it's hard not to worry, try to talk to others and keep busy. Some specialists have huge lists, The breast surgeons are really good and leave small scars, often around the nipple. I've had duct papilloma, leaking nipples, they felt like a piece of wire, and were quite inflamed  my problems started after breast feeding fortunately following excision and biopsies they were not malignant . lm hoping you have the same outcome. The breast clinic are great and I have a open access appointment enabling me to see them when l need to.

It's hard not to panic when things are moving so fast, but I'm sure you would panic even more if everything was going in slow motion. We all find the speed a bit overwhelming, but if there is the chance of a cancer being present, the sooner it's seen to the better. It's so hard to deal with the unknown and our imaginations tend to take us to all sorts of dark places. You'll be in a better place once your operation is over.

We all get markers put in, so that the surgeon can idenrify the problem area. As far as I understand, a sub-areolar resection is the same as milk duct removal. There is nothing to getting the marker put in. It is usually inserted at the time of biopsy via a needle.

I thought I would update on my situation. I had my MRI results, which had been reviewed by 2 radiologists (I think this is normal). One thought it was either invasive cancer or a papilloma,  the other thought it was a papilloma. Papilloma can contain DCIS so that's still a possibility. Then was given the choice to proceed with the surgery on the 7th, or have more biopsies first to avoid the potential for a 2nd surgery on the lymph nodes if it were to be invasive cancer (I.e  wait for more biopsy confirmation  then have one surgery to do the lot). I chose to go ahead with the original plan, as all scans have still been inconclusive and there's a good chance one surgery would be all I need, if it's benign or DCIS and all removed. As my lump could be felt the marker part involved another ultrasound and a simple pen mark. Post surgery I'm not in much pain, only when leaned on or bumped. The wound is a little larger than I expected but really not too painful. Now for the full results in 2 weeks. Roll on the confirmation its benign
