I have found a lump and need advice?

Hello I appreciate any advice if possible.

I have recently found a hard pea shaped lump on one side of my neck. I don't know how long it's been there for as it's completely painless and I found it when putting my hair up. It's been over a week since I found it and it's still there. I know there's a chance it could just be swollen lymph nodes due to fighting an infection but would that normally be the lump on both sides?

Everyone I know is telling me not to worry and it's probably nothing and I don't want to go to the docs and waste peoples time. Only symptoms I've had are constant nausea, insomnia and loss of appetite but I have also been under a lot of stress recently so had put all that down to that..

Should I be concerned or should I just wait a while and see if it goes? Thanks for taking the time to read.

    Hi Carter.B,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am not a doctor, but as far as I understand, this could well be a reaction to a minor infection and you could get swelling on both sides as a consequence. The swelling should eventually subside, although this doesn't always happen. With the other symptoms you're having, it would be sensible to see your GP and to get his opinion. You certainly won't be wasting anyone's time. We are always advised to see our GP in the case of such changes.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Carter.B,

Please make sure that you do check in with your GP if this doesn't resolve by next week. You cannot afford to ignore these symptoms, just in case.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine
