OnandOff breast pain and photo of mole sent to dermatology

Hello everyone ,

Im a 21 yr old whos just today been sent an urgent referal to a nearby breast clinic , the doctor said i would more likely have a ultrasound on my left breast where i have had strange on and off pain around the left side of the breast/ around where where the breast connects to my sides, luckly the Gp could not find any lumps . but have a suspicious mole ( What ive had from birth ) what has slighly changed, ( this isnt a normal mole its got a dot in the centre , in a lighter circle , what has a ring what has changed colour and outer more spratic ring )  a photo of it has been sent to dermatoligist to decided if action is need/ if it needs to be removed ect. Not reallys sure how to feel as on the phone the Gp said to no worry or panic about the urgent referal part.

Just wondering if anyone else has had anything simiar/ any positive thinking until i get contacted for a referal? if i do have Ultrasound when can i expect the results back? , im try to channel postive energy and trying to busy up the next week or so to distract myself and i will also be starting back at my univercity so i think that will keep me busy

a quick note im dylexic so im sorry if some of the above doesnt make much sense,

  • Hello Congaline2000

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some health concerns at the moment. It's good to know that your GP has referred you to have these checked over and hopefully you won't be waiting too long for the appointments.

If you've been referred to the breast clinic for an ultrasound, typically women are given some kind of indication on the day if anything needs to be investigated further. Try and remember that it's positive that your GP hasn't found any lumps. The majority of women who attend breast clinic aren't diagnosed with cancer and you also have age on your side. Hopefully, the Consultant will be able to give you some reassurance on the day.

With regards to the mole, again hopefully you'll have some news back soon from the department with regards to if they are happy for you to just monitor things or if they want to see you. Either way, try to think positively and take things a day at a time.

If you want to chat through your concerns with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm (excluding bank holidays).

    Best wishes,
