Breast worry

Hi

I recently have had thickening and pain in my left breast - alongside back / shoulder ache and constant tiredness and night seats . I went and got examined by the nurse who agreed with the thickening and also found a lump that apparently wasn't jagged as cancer should be . I got referred and had a monogram followed by an ultrasound on the area I said I felt the pain . I was told there is nothing there to worry out and my results are clear . However my gut keeps telling me that there is something there . My mom had breast cancer Once at the age of 41 and then metastatic breast cancer at 67and sadly it took her life . The hospital missed her cancer on both occasions . I am a very intuitive person and I honestly feel like I was the in the percentage where it gets missed . What should I do ?

  • Hello Jeyzee,

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't find the reassurance you sought after your mammogram and ultrasound.

After losing your mum to breast cancer and how the hospital missed when something could have been done it is easy to understand why you are worried. Have you considered getting a second opinion?

At any rate, I hope you find others here who can relate to your situation and who can offer more insight.

The other thing I wanted to mention, is that if you feel like chatting with someone medically trained, our team of nurses are available Monday - Friday between 9 a.m - 5 p.m on this freephone 0808 800 4040 Monday - Friday between 9 a.m - 5 p.m. if you feel that speaking with them might help.

I hope all turns out well for you, Jeyzee.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for replying. I am a very intuitive person and my gut keeps telling me there is something there . It's nagging away at me to the point when they told me there's nothing there I was shocked when I should have been relieved. My left breast feels different and I don't know whether this is my mind playing tricks . It feels as though there is thickening and I have found a small pea shape lump but surely this would have shown on the mammogram and ultrasound.
if I wanted a second opinion how do I go about this as I honestly feel I can't move away from this

    thank you
