Do get it checked out.  But how you are describing that, it sounds like the pile i have from time to time. I had mine checked out too and it was a pile. I actually had two. Mine was under the skin and sore from time to time. In the meantime if it is really bothering you, get some of that anusol ointment and see if that helps. The itching tends to come after the pain if it is gonna itch.

My piles have never bled.  Just feels like someone booted me up the backside, and the itch comes once the swelling goes down. But the suppositories or cream is good for that and the pain.

Morning ProfBaw, Thank you for your reply. I do sincerely hope that it is a pile but after another good "rooting" about ( sign of things to come methinks ) do feel it's too "firm " to be just a vein , you can "ping" it  - back into its "fixed" position , although it moves. I have heath anxiety that's never been diagnosed and am a total hyperchondriac . I went to have a "pulsing ovary " investigated about 6 and a half years ago , had a negative ca125 test but then suffered an "pulling sensation" one evening at a family gathering . When I got up the next day this feeling had abated , and since then every twinge or feeling of gas in my pelvis lower abdomen has been signs of ovarian cancer .Stupidly I have been too terrified to have any further tests but am sure I can feel 2 possible lumps when I bend over sometimes , I'm going to ask this time when I'm at the doctors for further tests as I'm out of my brain worrying now that this may have been latent for years and  now spread to my backside . I'm 62 and just tick all the boxes for cancer. Sorry for all this other info , but I'm going to enquire now whatever happens with the rear end , I'm losing my sanity with worrying .
