Bowel cancer symptoms! Scared for my life.

Hello,I'm male and 36. Fit and healthy. Have always had regular poops, and usually they work on a poop clock very well. Haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary, and most of my poops look text book.

I do quite often suffer from Urine infections, don't know why! Been diagnosed with an overactive bladder.

Recently this week, felt a pain in my lower pelvic region, left side. And thought it was another urine infection coming on.

But now I'm extremely worried it could be bowel cancer!? I lost my mum to cancer 10years ago. So I have such a gear of it.

I see my 3 year old daughter and keep cuddling her and crying!!! All I want to do is watch her grow.

Cheers

  • I would say it's pretty unlikely. I had some bowel cancer symptoms over the summer - rectal bleeding, weight loss, some loose stools (maybe once or twice a week) and trapped wind. I am about your age, so the consultant said bowel cancer would be very unlikely, that it was possible with those symptoms, but would be the least likely of all the possible causes.

Given that it doesn't sound like you have either bleeding or a change in bowel habits (which I think are the two main symptoms) and that you are under 40 (I've read that about 99% of cases of bowel cancer are in over 40s), I'd say bowel cancer is very, very unlikely in your case.

I'm no expert, but it really doesn't sound like you have any reason to worry about it.

  • Thanks mate. I do get very anxious when it comes to Cancer,as Im always on top of my health and eat healthy.

Did they offer anything to you for a check up? Are you still getting symptoms now or ok?

My abdominal pains have subsided today, and the pain has moved more centralised pelvic area.

  • I had a colonoscopy, where they found hemorrhoids. Most likely, the symptoms were caused by those combined with the stress of the whole thing, possibly some effects of my thyroid medication (weight loss could be due to that) and maybe a few slight coincidences.

    I'm fine.
