Hi, 

my partner has a very swollen and large lymph node in his armpit , he has had two rounds of anti biotics to no effect and has lost weight and has had night sweats.

The GP referred him to the breast cancer unit at our local hospital and the consultant felt the lump and said " yeah this just feels like fatty tissue but we will scan anyway" he didn't want anymore tests. 

during the ultrasound the sonographer then started to call people in and did a biopsy and a mammogram there and then, this was at the start of December and we still haven't had any results.

does anybody know the threshold for doing a biopsy on a lymph node? Just find it odd that the docter said no and then the sonographer arranged tests, maybe because it was big, has anyone else going through this? Going out of my mind with worry for him!
