I can understand that this question must have been unsettling to hear. As you say, it's great that the doctor is being so thorough, and it sounds like they are looking to cover all bases and get you the answers you need as quickly as possible.

The referral is of course part of this process, and although it's an urgent referral this will at least mean you should get the information before too long.

I'm sure it will be difficult not to worry, as the uncertainty is never easy, but try if you can to keep your mind off things as much as possible - keeping yourself busy where possible and taking things a day at a time.

Meanwhile if others have similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

Having an urgent referral is ok and the quickest way to get into the system for any scans or advice it's good  that the doctor is crossing all bases. I have found during the Covid period that they are using the system more than usual. For breast , gynaecology, appts ect 

I  have been to the gynaecology oncology clinic this spring and have had my surgery recently  which was fine all biopsies were benign. If it had not been the oncology route I would still be waiting on the long waiting lists.
The thought of oncology clinic is the bit that worries you,  do you have someone to talk to they are really nice and helpful  at the clinic.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me, it's definitely helped to ease my worries a little. 

Hopefully I will have my appointment through soon, and I can understand about the long waiting times. I had to wait 3 months for the transvaginal scan and I'm thinking if there had been something sinister it would have been picked up on that. Although I have heard people say they can miss things and the doctor did tell me he has looked at the bits (literally) that the scan would not have seen. 
 

Any symptoms that could be cancer are always scary aren't they, and I think when you're classed as 'too young' to have certain cancers, you have to really shout up to be heard.

I have found the gynaecology oncology surgeon to be really good she spent 4 1/2 hrs removing my adhesions from previous surgery, when l spoke to her post op she said most surgeons would have bailed out and stopped, leaving one overy embedded in adhesions. If you need surgery I hope you have a similar surgeon they get the more difficult cases due to the problems. 
The being to young for this seems to be said for all types of illness, l was to old for ovarian cysts as past menopause, l was initially told by the registrar in clinic that l would not be put on the waiting list for surgery due to Covid, but the consultant said that was not a problem. 
l hope you have an early appointment and everything is sorted out soon the waiting is still difficult for us as you have time to worry and imagine the worst rather than the best outcome.
