Breast core biopsy - anxious wait!

Hey everyone,

I have come across this forum and it's awesome!!

I found a pea sized lump in my breast at the end of Nov - went straight to the Drs who suspected a cyst but referred me to breast screening just to be on the safe side.

Appt at the clinic on Tuesday 14th Dec and had mammogram, ultra sound and core biopsy as not a cyst....  Consultant suspects Fibroadenoma and said that I would receive a letter either asking me to return or a letter confirming all was ok....

Received a letter through the post today asking me to return to the clinic on New Years Eve - called and asked for more information and she just said it's to get your results - the consultant prefers to give results face to face!

I am not sure how I am going to cope through Christmas, I am so anxious and overthinking everything!!

And driving my husband insane!!

    Hello Anon,

Cancellations frequently come up, so it's always worth telling them that you are willing to accept one if it does.Wow - only 3 weeks to wait - what a time to have this hangingover you too!

I hope that all turns out well for you. Please let us know how you get on. Remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi

They have brought forward my appointment by 8 days which is good, but now I am due to see a consultant in the oncology department rather than the outpatients department, which is in another building. I am expecting the worst but hoping for the best.

    Hi Anon,

I am delighted to hear that you have managed to get your appointment brought forward. Try not to read too much into the change of building. They may well just be trying to fit you in sooner.. Please let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks Jolamine,

I'll wait and see now. Only one week to go before I know the details. I have started telling friends which has helped. Not ready to tell family yet until I know what it is.

Going to start decluttering to keep me busy.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Hi Anon,

It does help to talk to a few close friends. Most people don't tell too many until they know what their results are.

If your house is anything like mine after the festivities, you'll have plenty of decluttering to keep you busy for the next week. Just don't overdo the work. Give yourself some time to relax too.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Sorry to hear about your diagnosis! Not the best way to start 2022.

as you said, your thankful it's been found early ️

  • Hi

Had my appointment today and confirmed breast cancer. Invasive ductal carcinoma grade 3. It's also triple negative.  They haven't staged it yet as want to do MRI.

Feel very unlucky as can't see any cause of it and it's totally random.

Birth likely to be next week so I can be scheduled for lumpectomy and biopsy.

Hoping consultant calls me today or tomorrow with results of mammogram to ensure it hasn't spread.

It's a shock and I have cried but feeling weirdly calm about it (so far) now that I know. Just want it dealt with.

  • Hi

    Good luck with everything.

I had a core biopsy yesterday and the results are back next Wednesday.

I have a lump and pains under my left arm.   The doctors were blunt with me ... and I appreciate that.   The results will show WHAT kind of cancer  I  have not if I have or not.   They said it is highly unlikely to be anything else.

I seem to be taking it oddly well... not sure it's sunk in yet.

    Hi Anon,

Thank you for the update. I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. You would be unusual if you didn't cry - this is just the sort of news that we all hope never to hear. However, with as many as 1 person in 2 getting a diagnosis, it is not possible for us all to dodge the bullet. I am glad to hear that you are feeling weirdly calm at present. I have had 2 bouts in the past 12 years and found it easier to cope with once I had a diagnosis. Coping with the unknown is really scary, but once you know what you are dealing with, you can move on to fighting it.

I hope that your mammogram results come through soon and that the MRI doesn't take long to come up.. Please remember that we are always here for you. There are a number of ladies with triple negative on this site, so hopefully some of them will come along to chat to you soon.

Please keep in touch and let us know hoyou are getting on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
