Scared I have bowel cancer

I've had bleeding in my stool on and off for 4 years . I've been dismissed on multiple occasions with it being ibs or haemorrhoids. my stomach bloats easily and there's times when I'm constipated or I have diarrhoea. I've done stool test for inflammation which have always come back negative. Recently my left side of the stomach and back has been hurting for 5 weeks. I feel the pain more when I try and go to sleep. The pain on my left side of the back below my rib. Because my stool test has come back negative for inflammation, I'm convinced it cancer as it unlikely ibd . I'm now worried it might have spread to my liver .

I'm just soo upset that I've been dismissed for soo long due to my age . And now, the more I'm reading articles online , I'm seeing that young people in there late 20's are having colon cancer and it on the rise .

I have a mri on the 8th jan , and I've been told i most likely won't have my appointment for my colonoscopy until the start of feb.

I feel like my whole life on hold.

  • While it is on the rise among younger people, apparently, that is from a very low base. I had some bleeding and other symptoms at 40 and was told by the specialist that at my age, cancer was the least likely of all the possibilities.

And anything we've seen online, the doctors will know about and they'll know the full context whereas the articles might be focusing on the more dramatic parts of the story.

I definitely understand the feeling of having your life on hold. Especially over Christmas. Hope you get good news and it turns out to be something really minor.
