4 Week Wait for Breast Clinic Appt

Hello

I don't really have a question, just need to say hello & connect with others in the same situation as only my husband knows at the moment.

I found a lump in my left breast recently. Saw GP last week & he referred me to the Breast Clinic on the 2ww, however my appointment has come through & isn't until 19th January which is over 4 weeks after my referral. My letter states "4a, 4b, 4c, 4d - CANCER Suspected" & my GP said if I hadn't heard within 2 weeks I must let him know. I asked if Christmas was likely to delay things & he said no & he hoped I would be seen before Christmas.

I don't know what to do. I'm obviously extremely worried & I tried phoning the clinic this morning to see if I could get a cancellation or move it forward but they said they are completely booked up.

I was referred to the clinic 10 years ago when I found a small round lump which turned out to be a cyst. But this lump feels very different, it's much deeper in my breast & feels rooted. I'm so worried & having to wait so long is really adding to an already stressful situation

  • The letter said cancer suspected? What did the doctor say to you when when he examined you? I was see. Last Friday and had a text today to say if I haven't heard anything within two weeks to call them. I am worried sick. I don't have a lump but I see Mm to have soreness and more tissue in one breast. This wait is unbearable and seems to be getting worse!

  • Hi

I too am on the cancer pathway and have to wait 4 weeks. My appointment is the 10th January.

I have a lump in my upper putter breast and a swollen armpit. I'm 31 years old.

  • Hi

Thanks for your reply & sorry you're in the same position. The wait & worry is just awful isn't it.
My GP said it didn't feel cystic but he didn't seem too concerned about it at the time. He did tell me that he would include it on my referral but that I must tell them that I have a swollen lymph node above my collarbone. I was really shocked when I saw the letter. It says "2WW Breast Service- 4A,4B,4C,4D-CANCER Suspected" so obviously that really freaked me out.
I hope you hear soon & don't have to wait too long x

  • Hi Alicia

thanks for your reply & really sorry you've got a long wait too. It's just horrible isn't it. Hope your appointment goes ok & all is well x

  • Aw the wait is awful :( I've been driving myself insane :(

hope you've had a lovely Christmas and happy new year.

Have you had an appointment date through?

  • It's horrible isn't it, just feel in limbo constantly. Thankfully Christmas has been a welcome distraction but I think my mind will probably go into overdrive from here on in! My appointment isn't until the 19th but they said they are getting cancellations & are working through the list phoning people when an appointment becomes available. It would be a bonus if I get one sooner but I just hope it's not delayed any more. Good luck for your appointment x

  • Hey

    hope your well?

did you manage to get a cancellation appointment? I kept phoning but had no luck. So I've got my childcare organised for Monday 10th so I'm sticking with that appointment now as it's only a few days away.

  • Hi Alicia

No I didn't unfortunately. They said they just worked through the list if there were cancellations but I've not heard anything. My phone is glued to my hand constantly in case they do call but I doubt it. My authority has declared a major incident today so I'm now worried that it might even be delayed further. Really hope not, the worry & waiting is just awful.

Very best of luck to you for Monday, I hope for the best possible outcome for you & please update us if you can.

    Best wishes xx

  • Hi,

    I hope you

I was just wondering if you ever found out what the 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d - CANCER Suspected meant?

I went to the doctors on Monday with a swollen, painful left breast which has an imovable lump. The lump doesn't stick out but not sure if that because of the swelling. I have an appointment of 1st March but my letter said the same as yours and just wondered if you had found out what it meant.

I hope you are keeping well. I am completely freeked out at the moment and even though I told myself not to google things its easier said than done.

  • Hi, sorry I didn't actually find out what if meant. I'm guessing that it was because my GP couldn't rule out malignancy so that's the system & terminology they use. Mine turned out to be a large cyst which was unexpected as it didn't feel like a cyst. Best of luck to you for your appointment x
