Worried about weight loss and other symptoms

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if they have any advice on how to act moving forward.

I’ve had some worrying symptoms for a long time (not realised the significance until recently)

I’ve had shortness of breath for about 6 months, I put this down to being unfit mostly (although I climbed snowdon in April) but it’s got worse recently to the point where I struggle to even walk into another room without needing to sit down and catch my breath.

I’ve lost 3 stone over the last year without trying but hadn’t noticed until recently how much I’d lost and because I’m overweight I welcomed it without thinking it wasn’t really healthy.

I keep getting episodes of dizziness and lightheaded where I feel like I’m going to faint.

And the most concerning is I’ve had bruising about the size of a fist on my leg that hasn’t gone away and keeps coming back that has a lump underneath it, and recently I’ve got this purple/red blotchiness just up from the bruise too that extends past the knee and on the side of my thigh.

I’ve tried to speak to the GP but they seem completely uninterested and even cancelled my appointment next week as they’re not doing routine appointments now due to covid. Im getting worried something a bit sinister is going on as I just haven’t felt well at all for months but just put it down to stress.

Anyone have any experience with these symptoms at all? Trying to work out how I can get through to my GP or anyone about my concerns  ️

  • Hello Sakuramountain

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health concerns at the moment. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious particularly as you've not been able to speak with a GP about this.

Your GP is the person best placed to provide some support and advice in trying to find out what may be causing your problems. I'd get back in touch with them again and list all your symptoms and explain your concerns. If you still struggle to get an appointment then you could contact the Practice Manager.

I do hope that you're able to arrange an appointment with your GP and that they can give you some advice and reassurance about things.

    Best wishes,
