High risk HPV, no abnormal cells 2 wk referral.

Hi.

I was hoping to reach out, just to ease my mind with like minded people as I haven't really talked to friends or my partner about this.

My smears have always been regular, and timely, and negative with nothing to worry about.

I separated from my husband in late 2018 and subsequently entered into what is my current relationship.

My last negative smear was January 2018.

Now I've been told I have high risk HPV but no abnormal cells have been found.

In January 2019 I had difficulty passing urine and it was dark and a few months later traces of blood was in my urine but further investigation through concern but it was never followed up as my gp thought it was OK.

In March 2019 my IUD couldn't be seen by u/s confirmed still OK.

In Mid 2019 to November 2019 I briefly started lactating and my gp said it was a medication side effect.

However, for the past 2 years I've had spotting even though I have the mirena coil, I have pain during intercourse at times, and my spotting is random.

In the last year I've developed nerve pain and numbness down my left leg and it would give way of I even carried a shopping basket with shopping in it.  I have back ache on and off for the past couple of years though I can go further back with back ache lol

I've lost weight due to bariatric surgery in 2017, 14st in total and I've always put my bloating, sickness and bowel problems to that. Which I have often. Inclusive of loss of bladder control in that I have leaks, or the opposite and I cannot urinate unless I use the sound of running water and try to relax into it.

In January this year I fell and an xray showed what they called a calcified swollen lymph node in my pelvis on the left hand side. Around the size of a 2p piece.

I also have smelly discharge at times which I put down as bv due to the coil, and have been told I had bv by my gp which I was treated for.

I have lost clots with brown discharge but that has only happened once or twice in the past year.

Obviously the more I look, the more I panic.

If I knew my concerns were viable in a sense and not unfounded, I'd feel so much better.

I had an appointment yesterday but had to cancel it as I came into contact with a positive covid case though I'm still testing negative on pcr and lft tests.

When she brought my information out she immediately reassured me I would not be waiting long and within 10 minutes of being off the phone, appointments rang up and arranged one for the 23rd.

I'm not even sure what will happen at the appointment or what it is for, if anyone could shine a light on that as well.

Sorry for going on, and any replies as long as they're realistic, would be gratefully received. I work so much better on facts and percentage than wishful thinking I suppose.

So trying to get a positive head on with facts, good or bad. At least facts don't leave you guessing!!!

Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Sonyanna

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with ongoing health concerns at the moment. It's understandable that you're feeling worried about things.

It sounds as if the GP is being cautious in referring you to have your symptoms investigated and hopefully the team will be able to give you some reassurance at your appointment next week.

In the meantime, if you'd like to chat things through with one o four nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. we know that waiting for appointments, tests and results can be a difficult time and I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support that they can ahead of next week. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
