New lump in left breast

Hi ,

I too seem to found myself in the same boat ! Found lump whilst showering and went straight to GP hooding she will say it's nothing. But here I am waiting for my appointment which seems like ages! Trying to stay positive but with what is meant to be the happiest time of the year fast approaching I can't help but feeling miserable , anyone out there up for a chat ?

  • Hi I know how you feel found mine a week ago and have my appt on Thursday 23rd dec right on top of Xmas. Am really scared anxious and having difficulty sleeping etc. I suffer with health anxiety which has exacerbated this no end. Lots of roller coaster thoughts and am dreading the day I have to go. I hope you will be seen soon .  It may just be hormonal which a lot of them are. I'm 60 so probably not the case .

    hugs

Thank you for replying to me ! I know exactly how you feel ! I too suffer withe health anxiety and I am a natural worrier so always think of worst case scenario is unfortunately. With Christmas coming up as well and everything we've been through the past few years seems like there is not much luck coming our way xx what did you GP say ? Did they seem concerned? X I have been to breast clinic before and it really is not that bad ! They all seem lovely and make you feel at ease

    hugs

  • I think it's made worse because my mum died of breast cancer 25yrs ago at the age of 55. At least you've experienced it before and obviously had a good outcome that time. Maybe luck is on your side now. Can I ask how old you are ? I feel I'm one of the oldest on here at 60 ha ha x let me know if u are able to access your appointment.

    take care

  • Sorry gp didn't say much tbh and just said I will refer you . I have to say she said there was another pea sized lump which I cannot feel at all and can just feel the one that is about 2-3cms flat and smooth. Not sure what that means ?

  • Kels

i am sorry to hear about your mum and it's obviously so close to home for you !! Most people who go for their appointments will have good outcomes so try not too worry ( I know easier said than done ) but something like 1 person per 100 seen there would have had bad diagnosis in the end !!! I am 41 and hypochondriac for sure :) I have been twice before and it turned out to be nothing but I try to check every lump ! Still doesn't make me worry less x let me know how you get on ..

My GP said if it has smooth boarders than more likely to be benign

  • Thank you for the little chats. You appear so calm about things but you have been down this road before. Always here if need a chat

  • I am far from calm but try not to worry about something that hasn't happened yet and it's out of my control . At least you have taken first step which is to check it  so you are being proactive and taking matters in your own hands ! If you need a chat I am here ! Do you have something to occupy your time with like work , go out with friends , hobby ? X

  • I'm retired and do have hobbies and a granddaughter I see once a week but she is sick at moment. I do agree with you in trying to stay calm as you don't know yet. I have positive thoughts and then feel guilty for having them and go back to the other scenario. People on here have been so kind. ThAnk you

  • Don't feel guilty ! I suffer from obsessive thoughts so always end up with worse case scenario too !try and stay positive
