Endometrium 13mm thick and no periods.

Hi. Just looking for others experiences. Two years ago I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I had my thyroid removed. Since then my thyroid levels have been low until recently. My last test showed my thyroid levels are high and my FSH is high at 58. I've missed 3 periods, they were much lighter up to 6 months beforehand. I've had a recent pelvic scan that shows I have a 5cm fibroid and my endometrium was 13mm thick. I'm having pelvic pain, shoulder pain, and nausea. In worried as the GP is awaiting my full report. However she doesn't seem to understand my anxiety.

Update

Just had my report back. Apparently I also have two ovarian cyst, both around the 4cm mark and have been referred to a gynecologist. Apparently my endometrium thickness is not a concern,. Even though I thought 13mm thickness would be due to going through the menopause? I think 47 is quite young to have already gone through the menopause? Very confused, as having lots of pelvic pain.

  • Hi Mimi74,

I can understand this must be unsettling and I know the uncertainty will be difficult. I hope that it's not too much longer to wait before you have all the information you need, and any next steps that may follow if necessary.

My reply here will boost your post so a few more people should see it, and if anyone has similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

Wishing you all the best and we're always here for support if you need it,

  • I appreciate your reply. I hope I hear from others soon too.  Thanks ️

  • Hi Mimi74,

Im a year older than you. I had had thickening uterus lining, irregular bleeding for a few years. GP thought those were pre menopause symptoms. But then in Sept this year, another scan showed very thick uterus lining n I had no periods for 4 months...after biospy and finally hysterectomy, it has been comfirmed that i had/have stage 2 grade 2 endometrial cancer. I am going to start radiotherapy in Jan.

The above is only my case. Your situation may be different. What I would say is keep a close eye on your situation. Get a second opinion if in doubt. What I did was after my GP said it was normal, I went to see a doctor in the private hospital. Then my case was immediately referred to the oncology path of the NHS.

    Best wishes,

    Chui

  • Hello, I am 49 and I started having fibroids and ovarian cysts (that I am aware of) since I was 47 years old. Many women have fibroids and ovarian cysts, they are very common. As long as they do not grow too big or give you symptoms (alot of pain, excessive bleeding) many times they can be monitored. My gyn tells me it is very common during the years before menopause because your hormones are wonky and then after menopause they settle down and many times shrivel up as estrogen is what feeds them. We monitor mine annually with ultrasound and I plan to do so until I am well beyong menopause. Mine have not grown in the last two years and in fact two have gotten smaller. My Ovarian cysts have popped or dissolved and she said that was normal with your cycle if they are just functional cysts. Hope you get good information and follow up with yours. Take care, Sabrina
