Urgent referral for lump on neck.

I have had a lump on my neck for 4/5 weeks. It is quite hard and about 1.5-2cm. I paid privately to see an ENT who referred urgently (2 weeks) for a scan and probable biopsy. i have also had extreme fatigue and jist a general feeling of not feeling myself for a few months prior to discovering the lump. 
as far as I'm aware I haven't had any infections or viruses. The lump is also on my carotid artery (not sure if this is significant).

I have called the hospital who have reveived my referral, but have said i won't be seen until after Christmas (which will be 3/4 weeks after i was referred). Do i have a right to request a sooner appointment? Does anyone have any experience with anything like this?

I have young children and am really struggling to look forward to Christmas with the worry of it all.

    Hi,

    I'm new to this,

    Can I ask how everything went?.

    I've been referred as I have a hard fixed lump on the right side of my neck, I've had it for 10 weeks now.

    Hi Lindy, I have also been referred gp found a 4by4cm lump also on the right side of my neck. Have you received your appointment yet? Becky

    I'm so sorry to hear that Becky, its just such a worry.

    I hope you don't wait too long for your appointment 

    Have you had the lump long?, and have you any other symptoms?.

    I've got My appointment on Wednesday  17/06/26, I honestly don't know what to think, I've started to get pain in my right ear, and I've lost my appetite, I feel as if I've lost the plot because one minute I  can feel it then I can't, then I remind myself the the doctor has felt it and warranted the referral, I just don't want to waste the consultants time when somebody that really needs an appointment could have it, you can really feel it  more when lying down, I feel as if I've got asymetrical swelling between the left and the  right.

    Hi Linda, I’ve got my appointment this Thursday. I feel the same as you, I’ve also started to think my right ear hurts! I literally felt the lump on the Monday night made an appointment at the gp, thinking it was swollen glands and they would give me anti botics! Let me know how you get on with your appointment on Wednesday.
