Whilst they were giving my wife CT/MRI/Bone scans for breast cancer, they picked up something on one of her kidneys.  In fact, they picked up two things on her left kidney.  Scarring (caused by urine infections from when she was in her teens - supposedly common in females) They also picked up a shadow, which turned out to be a cyst, no treatment required.

The point to all this is, if they were to scan the population "just because", a lot of people would have incidental findings on scans. Whether they be cysts or something equally benign.

When i went to get a root canal on my tooth, they found something weird on the xray and i was referred to a oral surgeon. It's dense bone caused by my night time grinding.  But i still had to be sent because it wasn't supposed to be there. No further treatment required. Weird and wonderful things get picked up all the time.

Yours may turn out to be absolutely nothing, but scans can't really tell them what some of these weird things happen to be.  Only biopsies and further investigations can do that . There's lots of stories even on here from women who have had the fear put into them and their issues turned out to be harmless.
