Waiting and covid

Hi my mum recently had xray, then called her bk the nect day for ct, we then saw the doctor the following day and he told us she has lung cancer, to await biopsy to get kind n stage, as waitin we received a letter stating is a small nodule on kidney suspicious of cancer and he sebt referal to urology, then a week later a per scan. And week  later we had lung function test now waiting biopsy tues 7th dec, but next appointment after we have received is respiratory doctor 23rd dec. Surely the doctors wont make her wait that long to discuss treatment etc? We are very scared as she feels a lump in her breast now and im scared its spreading fast and all the waitin is making things worse. Surelt if pet scan showed more they would call us in surely?? But a week after pet scan we still not heard a thing. I cant sleep for worry and scared its bad as see nodule on kidneybto which says its not just one place. Anyone have advice on ur own waiting timws through covid please

  • Hello minxy1981 and welcome to Cancer Chat,

I can understand why you are feeling worried for your mum. Things have certainly moved very fast for your mum: first the XRay, then being called back the next day for a CT scan and learning the day after that she has lung cancer. It must have been a bit of a shock for you both and you now find yourselves having to await biopsy results to get all the information. I can imagine that this succession of tests is making you nervous and that it feels like a long time to have to wait to get some definite answers.

If you haven't done so already, I think it would be worth getting in touch with her GP about this lump in her breast she is feeling now and mentioning that you are feeling anxious about the wait. There is information on our website on the PET scan and it mentions that she should be getting her results back within a couple of weeks so if you haven't heard anything back after two weeks don't hesitate to contact them.

I hope that you get some answers very soon as it must be an incredibly worrying time for you and for your mum. Hopefully you will hear from other members of our forum who have had a similar experience before and they will be along shortly to talk to you about their own waiting times through covid.

Wishing your mum the best possible outcome and that you won't need to wait too long now to find out exactly what is going on. Keep us updated if you get a chance on how things develop and what all the tests reveal.

    Best wishes,
