Stomach cancer stage and time

My father in law recently had covid and subsequently had a stroke.  He came through this remarkably well but while in hospital they found a large mass in his stomach.

After a biopsy we were told the inside of the mass had cancer in it and cells on the outside were abnormal cells.  There was a small bleed coming from the tumour which they were going to fix with laser.

No surgery or chemo due to poor health.  The consultant said given his other health issues he would not die from the cancer.

He is normally 10 stone 12, went down to 9.5 stone and now back up to 10. Has had a severe itch for over a year I think due to anemia but other than that quite fit.

We don't know what stage he is at or how long people get but we want him to have the best time possible in what he has.

No other symptoms apart from maybe some burping although lik lots of people he doesn't tell you when he is ill.

Does anyone else have a similar situation that can tell us what to expect time wise?

Thanks in advance of any information

  • Hi Gigi111,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm very sorry to hear of the situation with your father in law - I hope you're getting on OK, I can imagine it must be very tough.

It sounds like you're still waiting to find out more from his medical team. That will be the best way to get answers in terms of what to potentially expect. It's always best to speak to the relevant doctor/specialist for information specific to each individual.

However if there are others here with any similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

Wishing you all the best and I hope you find out more soon,

    Ben
