Cervical cancer shock

Hi, 10 weeks ago I found a lump in my groin. Fast forward to last week and haematologist sent me for a biopsy/ct scan. Got a phone call from the Dr yesterday expecting him to say I had lymphoma, it's not lymphoma it's cervical cancer. I have an appointment  on Monday at ladies outpatients. Can anyone tell me what to expect at the appointment please? Will they do a biopsy if they already know its cancer? Any advice will be greatly received

  • Hi watto

My goodness that must have been an awful shock for you. So a biopsy was taken last week which confirms the cancer is cervical? At my first appointment I had a chat about symptoms I was having and then had a hysteroscopy and pelvic exam. At that point I had 2 biopsies taken, which came back confirming cervical cancer a week later. I’m not sure what would be done as regards biopsies in your case with the cancer already being confirmed as cervical, but I would expect the gynaecologist will want to do an examination at the very minimum. At least you don’t have long to wait for your appointment. Please let us know how you get on, and if I can help with anything from my own experience please do ask. xx

  • Hi  yeah it was taken last Thursday. Massive shock as I have no syptoms other then the groin lump. I'm not sure they would take biopsies if they already know. I've already had ct but guessing I'll get a mri at some point. I'll let you know how I get on. Thank you

  • Hi

Yes, they will schedule an mri next and establish stage and treatment. It will be a lot to get your head round, being so unexpected. x
