Grade 3 breast cancer

I was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer, got op on the 9th December to have the cancer removed, has anyone had grade 3 breast cancer and not had Chemo?

  • Hi Kristy,

Sorry to meet you in these circumstances I hope you are doing ok.
i am also Grade 3 Stage 1, I've had a Lumpectomy and my Nodes are clear, originally I was told after the Biopsy that it was a grade 2 so would be Radiotherapy and Tamoxifen for 5years. After surgery they re graded it to a 3, it's been sent to America for testing, I think that the Oncotype score is what they base the Chemo on. I am let to believe of the score is under 16 then I'm may not be an advantage.

Sorry I haven't helped. Best wishes Sarah

  • That's ok thanks for getting back to me, when did you find out what stage you are was that after your op? I definitely know I have to have radiotherapy, I think the concern is that they think it has moved into the nipple which would then be a Mastectomy and chemo, but if it hasn't moved into the nodes or nipple, I think it was just radiotherapy but I really can't remember what they said and don't want to ring them just to ask if I'll be having chemo or not, just wanted to prepare myself for chemo and my kids by having a short hair cut done to shock them now rather then having my hair full out and shaving it off.x

  • I have friend requested you x I  will send you a message xx

  • Just accepted friend request.x

  • Hi I am in the same position as you KirstyE, awaiting my oncotype score to see if I would benefit from chemo. I am 57 yrs old and was also told grade 2 IDC but then came back as grade 3 clear Margines and clear nodes. I am just anxious at the thought of chemotherapy.

  • Hi Keira,

so sorry for your news, I had my op on the 9th in recover at moment and doing really well. Get my results on the 22nd dec, I've decided that I'm not going to stress or worry about what I have to do next as what ever it is I'll do  just to get back to full health, I was more concerned about preparing my kids for hair loss them myself but after talking to them nothing will prepare them, so I'm worried about nothing, I hope you get the come you want and here if you ever need a chat.

  • Thank you for your response I really appreciate it.
I should be grateful at least I don't have small children like some of the ladies on here!
It's like I said to my husband I will have to do what I am advised and that's it. I just wondered if any body had the same as me and didn't have chemo? I will know soon enough I suspect as I think my results should be back hopefully just before Christmas.
thank you again xxx take care

  • I've spoken to a lot of people and I've not come across 2 different ppl that have had the same treatment, which really surprised me, I though I could guess my treatment and prepare myself from what other ppl had gone through and what treatment they had but that wasn't going to happen. I'm sorry I couldn't help you, do u have a date for your results yet?x

  • Thanks KirstyE I think that's what I have been looking for too.
Its fine  I will have to wait. No I don't  know the date they said 3 to 4 week for the oncotype result. I'm getting my head around it now I think.

thank you for your response xx

  • Hi Kiera,

Sorry too meet you here, I hope you are coping okay. The thought of Chemo is so overwhelming but I am actually pleased I am having it.

I had IDC grade 3 19mm,  Oestrogen Fed HER2- No node involvement . I have had a lumpectomy with clear margin after a second Surgery on the 23rd Nov . Initialy it was a Grade 2 but after they tested it  after surgery it was increased to a Grade3.

I also had it sent to America to get my Onco Score.

I am 38 and my Oncologist said because of my age and grade I wil be having Chemo so I actually didn't find out my Onco score as I was having Chemo anyway and I didn't want too know ( everyone is different but glad I didn't know the score)

My oncologist actually said that the likely hood is if I had no other treatment other the Radiotherapy' I would be fine but he is doing it as an insurance

I'm having Chemo, Radiotherapy tamoxifen for five years and an injection that will stop my ovaries working but I will probably have them removed.

I really hope your Score is Low and your treatment path is more simple.

    lots of love x
