Triple negative breast cancer

Hi hoping that there are some ladies here that can put my mind at rest. Will be having second AT chemo next week for TNBC after Lumpectomy in September. Radiotherapy will follow after chemo.

Been quite positive up to now, but suddenly all I can think about is the negative side of TNBC. Making myself sick with worry.

Is there anything positive that will alay my fears.

Not good to Google,  it's a scary place.

Tried to join FB group (Triple negative breast cancer UK and Ireland) but my request has been pending for nearly a week?

Looking forward to any positive comments from lovely ladies going through the same

Thank you so much

  • Hello Tabicat,

I wanted to wish you the best of luck for your treatment next week. I hope that everything goes well. It's great you have managed to keep positive until now and it's normal to have some days when you feel a bit more worried. You're on the right track though and doing really well so keep being strong if you can and take one day at a time and don't beat yourself up if you find some days are more difficult.

You are spot on when you say that it's not good to Google - we often say here that Dr Google cannot be trusted at all and as you say it often takes you to a scary place giving you the worst possibilities. So it's best to stay well away from Google and try instead to reach out to others - as you are doing on this forum or via the FB group - who have been personally affected by triple negative breast cancer. It's a shame that your request to join the FB group has been pending for a week - perhaps you could private message the admins who run the group and explain your situation?

There are also countless threads on the forum from ladies who have in the past been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. If you type 'triple negative breast cancer' in our search function which is located on the blue banner at the top, you will be able to find other threads on the subject and don't hesitate to respond to any that you feel you would like to engage with. I did a little search for you for example and found for example this very active thread or you could also read [@fifa]‍ 's thread here or [@Emma_S]‍'s thread just to name a few.

So I hope you'll soon be chatting here with other ladies who have been through the same as it does help to talk to others who know exactly how you are feeling at the moment.

Best of luck with the rest of your treatment!

  • Hi Tabicat,

So sorry that you have had to join this group,  I too have grade 3 triple negative breast cancer diagnosed end of Sept, 11th nov had WLE and snb biopsy, I am just waiting to hear if they got clear margins and clear node before starting chemo,  it is truly a terrifying diagnosis, I think it's the TNBC knowing there is no after drugs to keep it at bay, we have to trust the chemo.

how is the chemo going so far? Are you coping?
I am always here if you need to chat, cry or scream, it sure is a bloody rollercoaster that's for sure.

Stay away from google unless it's approved sites like this or Macmillan and breast cancer now. A lot of the American sites are outdated and just scare the beejesus out of you.

    Sarah xx

  • Hi Tabicat

Sorry you find yourself in the club no one wants to be in.

With regards to the fb group perhaps cancel and retry. I'm a member of the group and think it was couple days I waited to be accepted.

You will get through this but just take it a day at a time and listen to your body. I got diagnosed in March, had surgery April then started chemo in June. I finished 2 weeks ago. I have 2 weeks of radiotherapy in December.

Everyone goes through the treatment different but remember there is always help and support whether from groups like this, another good one is breastcancernow.org or from your breast and oncology team.

    Good luck

    Louise xx
