It's massive when you're diagnosed, then all the appointments start and it can be overwhelming. It takes time to come to terms with a diagnosis. I was diagnosed at the end of June 2021, had surgery at the beginning of August 2021 and have now finished all my treatment. Hope all goes well for you.

I've been for my results today. Unfortunately I have something called pleomorphic lobular carcinoma. It's similar to DCIS but rarer and is in the lobules rather than the milk ducts. 
I'm feeling a bit shocked and it feels rather surreal. 
I have surgery booked for 14th Feb to remove the area affected by a lumpectomy followed up with radiotherapy. 
 

Relieved that it's very treatable but looking for emotional support outside the family- although they're there for me I also think it helps to offload in a space like this!

I am so sorro hear of your diagnosis, but glad to hear that it is treatable. There are a number of people on this forum who have had lobular cancer. Possibly you might encourage some of these to reply to you if you started a new post entitled 'Pleomorphic Lobular Carcinoma.' Sometimes people don't read the more general posts such as 'Breast Cancer', as they are more interested in finding people who are in the same boat as themselves.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years and agree that it is a surreal experience to receive a cancer diagnosis. You will go through various emotions - possibly denial, anger and 'why me?' Unfortunately, all of these are perfectly natural. I am glad to see that you don't have too long to wait before you have your surgery.

We are all here for you and you will often find it easier to talk to strangers on this forum, than you will to family. Still, dont shut your family out altogether, as you'll need their support too.

Good idea to start a new thread

The only way I can describe how I feel at present is really really ****** off! Like many, I've had lots of challenges in my life and was finally more settled in a calmer life. Now something else to deal with and I feel exhausted just thinking about it. I know I'm supposed to be thankful it's not worse but that's not what I feel. 
I know I have to get on with it and sharing here will help me offload and spare the family some pressure for sure

The way you feel is perfectly normal. It takes some time to come to terms with your diagnosis and you will have a challenging few months ahead of you, but i's all perfectly 'doable'. Once you start dealing with it all you'll begin to feel more positive about things. Don't look too far ahead. Just take things one day at a time.
