Kidney cancer

My mum was diagnosed with kidney cancer in April. It has spread to her neck which was the problematic symptom. She has been in agony with neck pain and was getting advised for two years that it was muscular pain. They have now told us that the cancer is incurable and she is getting immunotherapy and tablets after a round of radiotherapy that did not shrink the tumour in her neck. I'm just posting this to see if anyone else in this position as I have never heard of kidney cancer spreading to the neck.

My mum has a scan next week to see if the tumour is the same size and make sure it's not moved. Any advice or even hearing someone else's story would be of big help.

  • Hi,

sorry to find you here asking for help.

My dad had Prostate cancer that had spread to his lymph he has secondary cancer in his kidney about 5years later.

if cancer is in the lymph then it can travel to anywhere really.

  • Hi Effie,

Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry to hear about your dad. Yes I do go to appointments and ask questions but it's just so stressful and upsetting that I find it hard to understand and take it in. The cancer isn't in my mums lymph's but in the bone in her neck. They are saying it's still localised to her neck and kidney but just hadn't heard of this happening before.

anyway thanks so much for the reply. I just find it helpful hearing other stories and how people manage.

    thanks

    jenn xx
