Check Ups After Hysterectomy & Stage 1A Cancer

I had a hysterectomy 7 weeks ago after being diganosed with Complex Endometrial Hyperplasia with Aytypia.  When the histology came back post hysterectomy, I was diagnosed with Grade 1, Stage 1A womb cancer and therefore requiring no further treatment.

My understanding is that there is a 20% chance of recurrence, in either the bladder or bowel, within three years.  I had assumed that I would be given physical check ups for the next three years.  I have been advised by the hospital that my check ups will consist of just telephone consultations - one every three months for the first year, one every four months for the second year and every six months in the third year.

I really am extremely concerned and worried about the lack of follow up and would really appreciate anyone else's experiences of aftercare and check ups.

Many thanks.

  • Unfortunately I can't comment or advise on the type of check ups you've been assigned KezzaL but I understand your concern about only having telephone consultations over the next 3 years.

I really hope you're able to get the reassurance you're seeking at this time Kezza.
