Benign Phyllodes tumour

I am 42 years old female diagnosed with a benign phyllodes tumour -4cm this year. I had three surgeries for removing margins till now.

I have family history of breast cancer.

Now surgeon wants fourth surgery to remove margins. I had side effects of surgery like seroma, itching, red rashes & fluid under skin tissues.

I don't want any more surgeries due to surgery side effects.

Is this normal to fail to remove margins?.

  • Hello Ulondon and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry about the side effects you've had to contend with and it's understandable why you don't want to go ahead with a fourth surgery.

Unfortunately I can't answer your questions about the margins but our cancer nurses may be able to help so if you'd like to get their thoughts on this, you're welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope you receive some support from our members who have had benign phyllodes tumours soon.

    Kind regards,
