Lobular cancer - awaiting tests and so scared

I've been diagnosed with lobular breast cancer and referred for MRI, bone and CT scan.  I have two positive axillary nodes.  I am so anxious and scared and breaking down all the time thinking the results will be the worst case. Finding it hard to cope. The tumour was 1cm but I'm thinking with lobular it could be so big it's inoperable and I wouldn't know.

  • I'm done :) feeling fine (probably because I'm drugged up!) and relieved! Just hoping they don't find any more lymph activity in the nodes when they look at them but the consultant seemed confident because the MRI and CT only showed two.

how are you getting on now?

  • Hello, and welcome! I've just had a right mastectomy and lymph clearance today.  I too was initially told it was probably just glandular tissue then got swept away in this process when they realised it wasn't!
if it's any help, I'm feeling fine tonight - am on pain relief but it's not as bad so far as I imagined.  You'll be ok xxx

I've been told I should definitely have chemo as a sweep up treatment and basically any other treatment available. He said my age (41) is a factor in wanting to hit it hard.

we'll get through it. Sending love xxx

  • Hi

So gald the surgery went well and pain is manageable.

Did they say how many lymph nodes they took ? and did they go in through the breast wound I think that makes it less painful rather than in the armpit aswell.

I was sick about ten hours later , hopefully you won't be but take it steady.

District nurses been out twice now to check drain and hopefully it will come out tomorrow.I want to start the shoulder exercises then.

Well done -first and most important bit over xxxx

  • Hi Ned

Sorry you are here too, yes its rubbish.

I was never told "nothing to worry "about just first mammogram to call back and suspected cancer.Thank goodness as mine is quite large at 67cm -still couldn't feel anything.

Had mastectomy on Wednesday and been told probably chemo due to the size and radio , no node involvement as far as they know.

To be honest I actually want chemo now-crap though it will be -so I know everything has been done to try and stop it coming back.

I hope you get a date for clearance soon.xxx

  • Hi Minty

Hope you are recovering well from mastectomy.

Hope to get a date for clearance next week, I'd like it done before Xmas but we'll have to wait and see. My surgeon only told me about surgery, he wouldn't commit to what comes next.

You are right about the chemo, I don't suppose anybody wants it, but it's the best way to get rid of any rogue cells that are lurking about and that's what we need.

    Good luck xxx

  • Thank you :)

they didn't say how many but he said he was taking the lot so  have to be careful of lymphodoema now.

looks like there are a couple of wounds - not investigated properly yet!

Glad your drains are coming out - should fee a bit more normal soon!

still no sickness so far - fingers crossed!

when do you hear about your lymphs?

    xxx

  • Hi

Yes lets hope it is before christmas.

I've realised , they don't tell you anything unless you keep asking , I suppose sometimes they don't know themselves , but it would be nice to know what they are thinking !

I'm also trying to eat helthy and get a few pounds off before chemo starts ! xx

  • Hi

Glad you are feeling Ok and no sickness.

District nurses have been very hit and miss.Hoping I can do a littel walk tomorrow.

I don't have a follow up appointmnet yet , but he said it should be before christmas as they will want to plan appointments for January.

    Take it easy xx

  • Hope you manage to get out for your walk - fresh air will be nice! I'm having my drains out this Thursday then follow up with the consultant next Thursday. Not looking forward to chemo... x
