Metastatic breast cancer

My breast cancer which was diagnosed very recently has turned out to be metastatic. It's in my neck, spine, ribs and hip.it's totally unbelievable. I'm in so much pain, the strongest painkillers aren't enough. I don't know how I can cope with this. I feel faint when I stand up, I can't turn my head. The doctors want to do a hip operation before they start chemo, bec they are saying the cancer will cause a fracture soon, without the operation. It's all too much to take in. I want the chemo to start now.

    HI Cullendancer,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Chemotherapy can cause a loss of bone density, leaving you more prone to a fracture. I expect that this is why your consultant wants you to have the hip operation before you start chemo.

I can understand your desire to start chemo as soon as possible, but please be guided by your Care Team - they know what they're talking about.

If you feel that your current medication is not touching your pain, please let them know this, as there will be other drugs that they can give you.

I sincerely hope that you can get this all sorted soon and make a start on your chemo.

Please keep in touch. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
