Bowel Cancer

I only went into hospital for my appendices to be removed but after a CT scan it turns out I had bowel cancer and that's what upset my appendices. So on the same day as my CT scan I had my right side of my bowel removed.

I'm now going to see an  Oncologist tomorrow to discuss what type of chemotherapy would be best for me. I'm really nervous about going. I think it might be as I do not know what to expect. I'm in my early 30s which apparently is unusual for bowel cancer I'm not 100% sure on.

  • Hi Sam,

welcome to this chat page. Lots of others are going though similar situations and can offer advice on here.
infind this page very helpful as others are going through it with you.

I'm 42 with stage 2breast cancer. And just had results saying I need chemo. Gutted but hey I'm gunna take what advice is given.

The bowel they've removed will test type and grade cancer and then review numbers in meeting with different types of specialists ( multi disciplinary team-MDT) they discuss test findings , symptoms etc and etc and come up with best plan taylored to your cancer type and grade.

Lots to think about and try and get your head around.

Write any questions down you want to ask. Grade treatment plan, further tests. Recovery after surgery.

Take it easy and take time to recover.

take someone with you. It's good if they take info in and are ther to support you.

Keep us posted with your progress.

    Efffie :)
