Hi everybody,
I do hope someone may be able to help me or at least shed a little light.....
my mum has just been diagnosed with bowel cancer with further disease in the liver and lungs. I know from my own experience with cancer (nothing as bad as this, not even slightly as bad!) that it can alter the way you think and process information, especially in the early days. Also everyone is so different with what they want to know etc....
My mum has started her treatment of chemotherapy which she has every other week. She also has immunotherapy at the same time. Her oncologist has said that there is no operation in the plan. And that's all I know....She also had to sign something that had 'palliative chemotherapy' written on it.
my mum didn't want to know the type/grade/stage of her cancer, which is obviously her choice completely, but I'm struggling with the unknown. Has anyone had this particular type of cancer? Or has a close friend or family member with it? I'd just like to hear peoples experiences of it really. What is the process. What happens if the chemo doesn't work the first time around? How can I be a good person to be around while she's going through this. It's so hard to watch. I stay positive for her. I don't let her see that it upsets me because I don't want to upset her. I think we are all struggling.
thank you in advance if anybody can shear any experience or information that might help.
