Phyllodes tumor

I had a phyllodes tumour removed in July. My post op informed me it was malignant,  they now want to do a mastectomy.  I'm not too worried about this to be honest, I'm freaking out more incase it has spread (I'm waiting for a scan) all the stuff I'm reading gives a very bleak outlook if it's spread.

  • Hello LHH,

I am sorry that the post op informed you that your phyllodes tumour was malignant and that you have to do a mastectomy. I hope that the scan will show that it hasn't spread. Macmillan have detailed information on phyllodes tumours and you can also read more about the mastectomy on this page from our website. Try not to read too much online though until you have all the information following your scans as it could make you overly anxious.

There are several other past threads on the forum which mention phyllodes tumours. If you do a search by typing in 'phyllodes tumour' in our search function which is located on the blue banner at the top, you will see other threads from members who have been diagnosed with a phyllodes tumour and feel free to respond to any you feel you would like to connect with.

Our nurses are available Monday to Friday on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so don't hesitate to give them a ring if you would like to talk things through with them.
