Oesophagus cancer diagnosis

Hi

i have been reading the forum for a few weeks now and have found it very helpful.
My husband of 53years was diagnosed with  OC in July.
T2N2M0. Squamous cell.
he has just finished his 2nd dose of chemo and now on a break until 25th October when he will start chemoradiation. Then a break for 10 weeks before surgery, well that's the plan if all goes ok.

He is very anxious about the next stage of his treatment and keeps changing his mind about having the surgery. Any reassurance I can give him. Feel pretty helpless.

thank

  • Hello Tracy

I'm glad to hear that you've found the forum useful over the past few weeks whilst you come to grips with your husband's diagnosis and treatment. I hope that the chemo so far hasn't been too difficult for him and that he's able to take the next few weeks now to rest and recover ahead of starting the next phase of treatment.

It's understandable that he's feeling anxious ahead of this next stage. I think many of our members here who have been through treatment for cancer will understand this. Can I suggest that you post on this active thread where we have quite a few members who have, have had, or care for someone with OC. I'm sure that some of the positive outcomes posted on that thread may give your husband hope and reassurance about the next phases.

You'd also be most welcome to call our team of nurses at any point to talk things through with them. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040 and I' sure they will be happy to offer any information, advice, and support that they can.

Keep in touch Tracy and let us know how you're both doing.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
