Lumpectomy - soreness and lumpy after

Hi, I had lumpectomy and sentinal nodes removed 8days ago. One 10cm long scar due to lump location.
Ive been very lucky and vertually pain free till I've taken the dressing off as instructed in day 7.
My boobs lumpy. No redness.

Presuming this is normal -but to have no pain than pain on day 8

Hi Effie,it's quite normal for this to happen,I presume you had a binder on as a dressing supporting your breasts after your lumpectomy, as I did its a binder which goes right around your back and breasts and fastens with velcro at the front . These binders are tight and so therefore your breasts don't move, when you move, but when you first take them off, you will most likely experience some pain,as your breasts are free to move, which they couldn't in binder. Try wearing a good support bra, at first one that does up at the front, and has options of hooks and eyes, usualy three rows,so you can find which is the most comfortable position for you ,and then in time  a good sports bra,you can find these all on amazon. That's where I got mine from. If pain persists, then do speak to your breast care nurses, but the answer to yoir question yes its normal to experience some pain after what you've gone through. Do do the exercises that you were given each day,it really helps.

  • Hi,

Sorry it's taken me ages to reply.

I had a very small sticky plaster over my wound and nothing else.

ive been wearing a bra even In bed to try and help.

I've been back to see my breast nurse for her to review.

jve got a heamatoma and a seroma. Which is still looking awful and really prominent.

I have massive boobs so struggle to get bra's to fit. (40H)

    thanks again for your advice

    much love Efffie x
