TNBC Chemotherapy cycles

Hi all,  I'm newly diagnosed TNBC patient.

I've just received my treatment plan, and they are planning to give me three cycle of EC and three cycle of TC, totalling 6 cycles before the surgery.

My lump is 2.6cm and one lymph node affected too.

I am okay with tackling what I have now, my biggest fear is that in a couple of years time for the cancer to come back which would be much harder to treat. The chemotherapy is quite important part of this to prevent it happening. When I read the treatment people are having all over the world, it is more common to have 4 cycles of each but not 3 cycles of each .

My question is what will be the difference between having  three cycles of EC instead of four cycles in the future (and why I was offered only 3 not 4). Am just worried and don't want to regret not doing enough to prevent it if/when it come back in the future even though that means longer and harder treatments I have to go trough now.

what number of cycles have you received and do you know why we all get offered different number of cycles?

  • Hi Jrkt10

I was diagnosed with bc in March but I had my surgery first after being told it was hormone positive. After surgery and lymph biopsy I then found out it was triple negative and would need chemo then radiotherapy.

I had 3 cycles of EC and now on 3 cycles of PC. I am on another forum and there a few of us who are only having 3 cycles.

I've never queried the quantity with my oncologist I just trust his advise. I know my lump was totally removed and it hadn't spread so the treatment is like a blast through as a precaution.

It's possibly like all treatment different gps, consultants have their own methods etc. Can you ask your consultant see what they say?
