I'm really sorry about the news you received in your follow up Tjrousers and that you now need to have a mastectomy and chemo.

It's completely understandable to be feeling this way but you're not alone as many of our members have been in similar situations so will know what you're going through at the moment and will hopefully be along soon to offer their support and advice.

Hi Tjrousers,

I am so sorry that you are now facing a mastectomy and chemo. It is a lot to take in, but it is all doable. I had a lumpectomy 12 years ago and had to have a double mastectomy the following year, when a second cancer was found. Despite this I have managed wel and am still leading a busy and fulfilled life.

Have you got a date for surgery yet? I sincerely hope that it all goes well for you. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

Surgery scheduled for 27th Sept (my Birthday!). I just feel that instead of being in control of my own body that the cancer diagnosis is taking over and I can't plan nice trips etc as I don't know when and for how long continuous treatment will be needed. I am a positive person but just feel like the stuffing has been knocked out of me a little bit. 

I also know that my cancer has been found very early so am grateful for a routine mammogram x

What a birthday present! Still, look it as a start to a new future. We are so lucky to have routine mammograms in this country that can pick up cancer at an early stage.

I know that it's not something that any of us want, but with 1 in 2/3 of us having it now, it's hard to avoid. Most of us feel as if our life is taken over by cancer for the first year or thereabouts. It is worth putting yur life on hold for that short time to fight this with all you've got.

It is not easy, but try to remain positive, as this will help you through your treatment. Have you made any plans for reconstruction?

I shall be thinking of you on 27th and hope that all goes well this time.
