Just been diagnosed with uterus cancer. They say I have to have a MRI- is this normal practice? Also, they say it is Stage 1 by how can they know that from a biopsy? so worried.
I went through this in January and the MRI is to see if its gone into the muscle of the womb or just remains in the lining. Could it be they told you the cells were grade 1? I made this mistake also thinking it was stage because that's what we always hear about cancer. Grade 1 means the cells are only slightly abnormal and growing slowly.
Good luck with the MRI! I hate the confinement but it's way better going in feet first. It's worth listening to music as it helps to have something else to focus on.
Thank you for your response. Sadly, it is Stage One that they said. I just don't know how they can tell that from a biopsy. I will call them tomorrow to ask. It was such a shock that I couldn't really think straight.
I have my second biopsy coming up this week, so I will see how things are going then and whether I will need a hysterectomy. I was told the MRI was to grade so I don't know either, did you get any clarity?
Sorry I took so long to reply? Had my hysterectomy two weeks ago so a it’s been a little crazy.
I was graded 1 and staged 1. However only the histology report can truly tell. I am besides myself with worry as it seems that grading and staging so often changes. Also, the consultant made a remark after surgery about my ovaries seeming to look a little abnormal. My mind is in overdrive.
