Goblet cell adenocarcinoma

Good morning,

I had an appendectomy 10 weeks ago, received a call from dr last week and upon attendance to an emergency appointment I was informed that cancer was found at the point of incision. I was told I need a right hemicolectomy. As yet I have not met the surgeon.

I have spoken to two nurses and the registrar.

Has anyone had this procedure and what was your quality of life afterwards?
Were you given the opportunity to speak to a cancer specialist?
Any advice would be gratefully received.

many thanks

  • Welcome to the forum, Dilemma.

I'm sorry that you're diagnosed with cancer and that now you'll need a hemicolectomy.

Hopefully some of our members who have had this kind of operation will come along shortly to talk with you but until they do if you insert the term "hemicolectomy" in the upper left search tool on our main page you will find lots of threads discussing it, feel free to join them, everyone here is very friendly and I'm sure they'll be happy to chat with you.

I'm also linking a page from our website about hemicolectomy and I hope this can help a bit.

    With best wishes,
