In Recovery from Lung Cancer. Happy to help anyone with LC

Hello All.

I was diagnosed with Left Lung Cancer Tumor in the  top Lobe of lung. I was stage 1. It started due to sharp in my left side of chest. Glad I asked for X ray as was thinking I had air pockets in my lung and did not ever think it would cancer. Anyway I had operation to remove one whole section of left lung. So still have bottom left lung. I don't smoke either. Well had op 22nd April 21. Recovering ok still in pain and numbness but copying. But I had to see GP last week due to gurgling noises in my remaining left lung. Been on antibiotics but doctor sent me for urgent X ray due to gurgling still there a bit. So I have had e x-ray this morning so might know later today or tomorrow. It's a worry it might be more cancer in remaining left lung or blood clot or it might be infection that's not clearing with antibiotics. Either way I will know my fate. You all take good care of yourselfs. I'm here if anyone wants some advice on Lung Cancer. I will say a prayer for all you cancer patients. Take care. Keep talking and try to keep happy. Let cancer know your fighting it. Love to you all. Jobygirl.

  • Hi there, wow on the early diagnosis. I think I'm early as well? Struggling to deal with the 3 month wait between PET and second CT scan....  Did you have daily support?  Feel I'm trying to balance between self destruct and get a grip....

  • Hello Ssrahmp.

Thanks for your message. That's terrible waiting 3 months wait. All my x-ray then CT scan then pet scan and last CT where all done for me in two weeks from 22nd march then 22nd April operation. I also contacted Macmillan Cancer by ringing them as they can help move things quickly if need be by writing to doctors. I also had support from the respiratory team at the Hospital and a macmillin Nurse who has been there for from march and still gives me support through my recovery she has been an angel. Just so you depending on if your op is an open operation or the one I had which involves 3 scars on your side not sure of yours but I was in theatre for 8 and half hours. Also was in hospital 2 nights then sent home to recover. I think being sent home that early is way to soon. I think you should ring your cancer team to find out when the scans will be and say your worrying if Cancer might be growing while waiting it is worth a shot love.hope I've help you a bit please keep in touch of how you go and when operation is. My love. Joby.xxx

  • My first CT scan showed a 9.9mm shadow with a couple of smaller growths. The PET showed 'faint' reaction. I haven't asked questions as I was in shock. I don't really know if it's good or bad, I'm just riding it out tbh. Was yours aggressive? Not sure why they would leave it 3 months? Really no clue what's going on

  • Hi my Cancer was 2.5mm very small yours sounds a touch bigger. It's a shame you never asked questions love. What I found best was writing my questions down asked my consultants lung team and put there answers down. Cause when you go to the tests your mind becomes mush because all you think it was cancer is it. Which hospital are under for cancer treatments. I live in UK not sure where your from love as some waiting lists might be longer than ours in UK. Xxx

  • Hi Joby,

I'm also UK, registered in Plymouth.  I was allocated a Lung Pathway nurse but assumed she just booked appointments as and when they were needed? I've tried to avoid googling stuff as I think it would just worry me further.  I must confess I did just sit back and put all my faith in the Drs, not questioning anything and just going with the flow. I think I'll try Macmillan x

  • Also iv done my back in waiting on someone to put my slip disc back into spine not sure how that will go. So feel like an old lady with my walking stick. But I did slipped down my stairs in my slippers so that's done slipped disc was very bruised too. I tell you that always knock myself what am I like. Hee hee. ️Xxx
