Any advice or experience of DCIS with Microinvasion

Hi

Results due tomorrow after a second operation to get a wider clear margin, first one was clear but they want a larger one.

I was hoping someone here might have some experience of DCIS with microinvasion! so I can be a little more prepared just in case

(DCIS grade 3)

  • Hi Coffee_lover,

How did you get on with your results? I hope you received good news but if you would like to talk things through with our team of cancer nurses, they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members who have experience of DCIS with microinvasion will be along soon to share their experiences and advice.

    All the best,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • I have this. How are you getting on?

  • Hi Elanah hope you are ok. Can I ask where yr micro invasion is, is it vascular or lymphatic x

  • No idea they haven't told me! But I will add it to the list of questions. All I know is an area of DCIS with multiple focus of microinvasions (near some calcifications I think as they used those to guide biopsy) and ER negative, CK14 expressive and p63 whatever that all means

I think it might mean basal-like DCIS

  • Oh right. I just wondered as I have some micro invasion of my blood vessels but don't seem to be able to find anybody else on here that has the same which is good I. One thing is it's obviously not that common. Thanks for yr reply much appreciated . Take care and I hope all goes well for you.

    love Andrea x

  • You too Andrea

i'll find out on Friday I hope and let you know. All the articles I've found on microinvasion don't say where it is too

bit there seems to have been very little study of this.

  • Hi Elaneh did you find out anything about yr micro invasion x

  • Hi Andrea

i hope you are doing well and have some answers.

o am so sorry I didn't see the notice for this come through.

after my care was transferred to a London hospital I for some proper treatment. I had a 14.5cm DCIS  with 8 microinvasions  into breast tissue and two small invasive cancers.  I fill find out more when I see them again. I have been really blessed with the transfer of care as the local hospital who first said nothing was wrong with me could only offer mastectomy with no reconstruction due to a need for radiotherapy whole London hospital could do a partial mastectom u and immediate match and reconstruction. They got everything out with clear margins.

just waiting now to see how much radiotherapy

I hope you got clear answers and good treatment

    elane x

  • Hi Elanah hope you are ok.

I still don't really know anymore but have an appointment on 9 th May so will ask then.

I have my last chemo tomorrow and can't wait for it to be done, then radiotherapy and hormone tablets will start.

I just want to get on with life as I feel like I've been in lockdown for 3 years with having to protect myself from Covid while going through this as not wanting any delays in treatment.

Hope you get your reconstruction sorted .

    Take care xx

  • I am glad your chemo is coming to an end. The hospital were able to sort everything in one op. Which is so good.
We might be doing radiotherapy at the same time. No hormones for me as far as I know as the initial bit of cancer removed was negative.

    take care
