Hello everyone,
My amazing Mum got diagnosed with breast cancer yesterday. We're all obviously heartbroken.
We didn't know if anyone had any experience recently of private healthcare treatment prices for breast cancer?

Hi Doozy,
I am glad to see that you have decided upon NHS treatment. I have experienced Private treatment for my mum, who had breast cancer an,d NHS treatment for myself in the past 12 years, since I was first diagnosed.
My mum's treatment could only be described as atrocious - admittedly that was 20 years before I was diagnosed and things have advanced considerably since then. It can become a costly exercise if you intend to cover all of your mum's after-care privately, as well as her surgery.
Some people have private surgery and then return to the NHS for after care. In these cases the link between private surgery and NHS after care is not always as joined up as if the person had been exclusively treated by the NHS. I too had the same surgeon that I would have opted for if I had chosen to go privately.
It sounds as if you have a lot on your plate just now, but I hope that all goes well for your mum. Please keep in touch and let us know how she gets on. We are always here for both of you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years and have had no prolonged waits for diagnosis or surgery. My after care has been excellent. I did encounter some of the problems that Greece outlined in her post, when caring for my mum.
