Hello Leesa123,
its a really frightening prospect hearing pf cancer spread into the liver and one l have previously lived through having had 60% of mine removed. So long as the positioning of any growth allows for surgical removal, the prospects of a good recovery with no long term aftereffects can be very good. This has certainly been my experience and it has in no way impinged upon my life once l got through the initial year following surgery. The Liver has a great ability to expand and compensate for any previous loss. If l was to score the subsequent hassle factor out of ten,Liver would be a 0,,bowel would be a 10 decreasing one point for each subsequent year. l am now seven years on living a very full active life making up for the time lost previously..
Although l well remember the bleakness of my diagnosis,it does not always follow through to your worst fears at the outset, and l hope your Husbands journey will be similar. Just remember there are good outcomes as well, and if l can be of more support it will never be a problem,
david
Wow that's amazing were you diagnosed with secondary liver cancer
Hello Leesa123,
sorry that my post was not clear,it was written by one who has gone through the journey you are about to embark upon,so your knowledge is still to be gained.l was diagnosed with High grade 3 colon cancer, which then decided to go on a vacation into my liver,so yes secondary bowel cancer in the Liver. l believe the most common route.of secondary liver cancer is from the bowel, although there are other routes.l had a slighty inflamed lymph node adjoining the bowel at diagnosis, which was obviously in the process of allowing the cancer to migrate, and 6 months later it had established in thre liver.l hope this reads a little clearer for you
take care, David
Hi lisa.123. sorry to hear about your partners cancer.
I was told in early january 2020 I had a malignant liver cancer. then that year my wife died from aggressive cancer.
I'd be interested in knowing what's happened and leading up to the secondary cancer. I know certain things like fluid mixing with or getting into the bowel and what it can cause.
Over the last few months I've been feeling worse. Ive had the colonoscopies and upper GI camera investigations which has brought certain things to light.
I am petrified of what is install for my future. over the last few weeks I have experienced, leakage from my stomach. Asked the geoenteroligist and even my GP. but none has come up with anything concrete other than fluid in my stomach and that's it. nothing as to what to do. I finally found something on google, Yes google. not the most relyable of places to look. but every thing they had is what's happening to me. the wording for these symptoms is peritonitis, dare I suggest this to my GP, as this is a bacterial/fungus which needs treating ASAP. as the end result is death. now trying to get a face to face appointment is like looking for pockets of air on the moon. and today I have been thinking it's a wednsday. this is a regular thing with memory loss. taliking to my son or daughter and stopping mid sentence, then I get aggitated when I can not remember.
I feel like I'm going down hill fast and there's nothing I can do to stop it. If it turns out that the delays I've been having to get on to the liver transplant list, should I get any further cancers in my liver, I will not be able to go on the transplant register.any information you could send my way could go some way of resting my mind. sorry to have gone on a bit.
He started getting pains in his right side in may and we went to drs they said it was a skeletal muscle separated and to take pain killers carried on went back June told sane thing then July I demanded blood tests that show inflammatory markers 220 had to go to hospital saw dr he ordered a ultrasound which showed lesions on liver has ct scan then got call from drs saying he had to see a specialist at upper Gi unit saw him he suspected that it's a metastatic spread from the bowel to the liver he had a biopsy on Tuesday awaiting results next Thursday
you should call them up and be firm in asking for answers
I kicked up such a fuss and got the appointment 10 days earlier good luck x
