BCC diagnosis to having it removed

So on Friday I was told the lesion on my hip is a Basal cell carcinoma which has really shocked and worried me. As it's grown significantly as they put it since March the dermatologist said my best option is to used a efudix cream for a month then have the lesion cut out which he referred me for then and there but how long have people had to wait to have theirs cut out?

  • Hi,

Pre-Covid my dad and sister-in-law had their BCCs removed about 8 weeks after referral. However, Covid has meant the waiting list is averaging about 16 weeks now. The cream should help to stop the lesion getting any larger whilst you wait for it's removal. The good thing is that BCC is not malignant so it can't spread internally, even though it can spread on the skin. Good luck and hopefully you won't be waiting too long,
