Hello staying.positive,
A warm welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis and I can imagine you have been left with lots of unanswered questions about this rare blood cancer. I am unable myself to tell you more about outcomes and prognosis but if you would like to talk to our cancer nurses about this you are always welcome to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
There is information on our website on this page on myelofibrosis which I hope you will find helpful and I would recommend as well that you have a look at the MPN voice website here which has a wealth of resources and a booklet on myelofibrosis. More specificially, you can find the section on myelofibrosis on this page.
I thought I would also mention the story of [@Amanda999] 's mum on this post - her mum was diagnosed 23 years ago and seems to be living a normal happy life. Don't hesitate to respond to her post on that thread and I hope that you will manage to connect with others on the forum who have been diagnosed with myelofibrosis.
Wishing you the very best for the start of your treatment. Have you been given a treatment plan yet?
Best wishes,
Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
Thank you for this information, I shall be using the helpline.
I really just needed to ask the question. I know how rare the condition is and that it is usually the over 65 age group.
I'm trying to see if there studies anywhere at people in a younger age group such as myself having this and what those outcomes may be.
