Dad has Colon Cancer- unable to have chemo

Hello,

My Dad has recently been diagnosed with Colon Cancer. He has undergone Radiotherapy to try and shrink the tumour and now needs to wait two months when he will hopefully have surgery.

He was expecting to begin Chemo on Friday however had a phone call from his consultant today to say due to a genetic mutation this could do more damage than good and can't begin this treatment. ️

I was wondering whether anyone has been in this situation also and has some positive stories? Needless to say he is beside himself now thinking the worst.

thankyou

  • Hi sorry to hear about your dad. I have Stage 4 oesophageal spread to stomach nodes an liver. First dose of Chemo had very bad allergic reaction an told no chemo. So had radiotherapy which was very successful in shrinking both tumour an stomach nodes. Seen Consultant today an arranging different chemo to shrink spots on liver so please check what other options  an alternative treatment there may be.
you take care too as I know what an impact cancer has on members of the family x
