Diagnosis

Hi all,

I received the heartbreaking news that my lovely Dad has been diagnosed with Lung Cancer and currently spread to his spine. We are waiting for all his results and treatment plan. I'm heartbroken and still in shock.

Never in my life did I think I would hear those words, I'm 38, and just assuming the absolute worst.

I'm trying not to Google anything but can't help it. I know this is probably a common question but has anyone been down the CBD oil path? Understably we will be asking the consultant before buying anything but as far as I can make out, it can sometimes interfere with treatment which hasn't been drawn up yet, so was thinking would it hurt to take some at the moment.

Thanks all

  • Hi Lucie I am so sorry to hear that your dad has been diagnosed with cancer.

In answer to your question, over the counter CBD oil or tablets can be sold in the UK as a food supplement but not as a medicine. There is no evidence to support its use as a medicine and no evidence to suggest it is in anyway a cure for cancer. It could also interfere with other cancer treatments given to your dad by his doctor and can carry other side effects and risks, so it is best to speak to his consultant to ensure that it won’t interact with his treatment.

The NHS website has more information about CBD oil which you might find helpful.

I hope this has helped and wish your dad all the very best

    Kind regards
