Stromal Endometrial Sarcoma

Hello,

my mum recently had full hysterectomy and they found aggressive cancer (stromal endometrial sarcoma), however, when she was about to start her chemo, she started having problems with with her kidney. At first they told her it was severe kidney infection which was treated by antiobiotics, then after taking the first chemotherapy (they only gave her half a dose) she was diagnosed with acute kidney failure. The right kidney has been compromised and doctors had to do nephrostomy. They are unsure what's happing with the left kidney. The doctor indicated that oncological treatment is not recommended in this situation. Has anyone ever encountered with a similar situation? What are the options? Thank you for any input!

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Michaela although I'm sorry about your mum's diagnosis and the problems that have been occurring with her kidneys.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will share their experiences and advice with you soon but if you'd like to have a chat with one of our cancer nurses about this you're very welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

You may also be able to get some information and support from the bone and soft tissue cancer charity Sarcoma UK but if you were thinking about getting a second opinion about your mum's treatment options, you can find out more just here.

    Kind regards,
