Newly diagnosed-breast cancer her2 positive, chemo tomorrow

Hi

I'm 36 and recently have been diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast.
I start chemo for 7 cycles tomorrow starting with fec for the first 3 cycles and was just wondering if anyone could post their stories of how they were during and after. I know everyone is different but it's good to hear everyone's journeys and how they are now.

I will be having surgery after chemo as I'm her2 positive and it's multi centric they want to do chemo first

Thanks

xx

  • Hi , I'm nearly the same situation as you - got diagnosed end of June with two primary tumours in left breast - 1 x hr2 positive and 1 x negative trust me to have two different types. Started chemo ten days ok - first couple of days ok but then the exhaustion hit me like a brick - trying to do bits when I can. Feel a bit brighter today apart from severe indegestion at night / hoping for a good week before the cycle starts again.
    Hope your treatment goes well

    thanks

  • I was diagnosed with a sarcoma last Tuesday no the same as you ladies but no one on here has anything similar just waiting on my treatment plan, I have loads of support from my husband family and friends but never felt so alone

  • Hi Silverdays

so glad you've recovered and sorry you had to go through it.

it is tough I've found a positive mental attitude helps me get through. I have a bad week after chemo tired, groggy, nausea but it's been doable they've been good on the 24 hour line to get you the medicine to ease the side effects

I still have a long way to go but I'm getting there

    xx

  • Hi 2021jo

sorry your having to go through this, I'm nearly due my 3rd round of fec and the oncologist said to me whatever you side effects I had the first time I will more than likely have the second time possibly slightly more intense.
I'm the same as you more tiredness than anything and the anti sickness have worked for the nausea but I only need them for the first few days.

From my experience on the past two cycles you do get brighter before the next cycle so hopefully you are the same.

I was absolutely fine 9/10 days before my next cycle was due

Not sure about others but my appetite has been fine if anything it's increased

    wishing you all the best

    xx

  • Hi Annie

so sorry for your diagnosis and feeling so alone, I was exactly the same whilst waiting for my treatment plan and results from scans etc it was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster

I found once the plan was in place I gave my head a wobble and became focused on the treatment I am totally a different person from what I was when I was diagnosed.

I actually look forward to chemo days now as I know it's one step up that mountain and you feel some relief that the drugs are working on the cancer even if it does make us feel rubbish I remind myself if I feel rubbish how does the cancer feel.

if you ever want to reach out and chat feel free to message, I find it sometimes easier speaking with people who are going through the same to support each other although it's a very unfortunate circumstance we are all talking on there are so many people on here who will support you even if it's to have a vent when we have our wobbles.

I hope you get your treatment in place soon as it may help you it did me

For me the drs and staff are absolutely fantastic which helps

    Hayley
