Newly diagnosed-breast cancer her2 positive, chemo tomorrow

Hi

I'm 36 and recently have been diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast.
I start chemo for 7 cycles tomorrow starting with fec for the first 3 cycles and was just wondering if anyone could post their stories of how they were during and after. I know everyone is different but it's good to hear everyone's journeys and how they are now.

I will be having surgery after chemo as I'm her2 positive and it's multi centric they want to do chemo first

Thanks

xx

  • Hi,

Just reading some posts from newly diagnosed ladies. I can only offer my experience. After all the scans and biopsies I started with surgery for a 29mm lump in right breast HER2 pos. I opted for masectomy and I had lymph node removal underarm at the same time. Cancer was found in 2 nodes. I then had 3 rounds of FEC chemo, I should have had 6 but due to neutropenia my chemo was stopped at 3. Not a pleasant experience but you are closely monitored by your Oncologist and team. I then had 3 weeks of radiotherapy. I am now a year after treatment and doing well on Anastrazole medication. I get more fatigued and sad I've lost a breast, but getting on with my life. The journey is so scary but there are lots of us who have survived and always willing to chat!
    Best wishes

  • Hi Silverdays

so glad you've recovered and sorry you had to go through it.

it is tough I've found a positive mental attitude helps me get through. I have a bad week after chemo tired, groggy, nausea but it's been doable they've been good on the 24 hour line to get you the medicine to ease the side effects

I still have a long way to go but I'm getting there
