Shooting pains in neck

I've just been diagnosed with breast cancer, and told that my lymph nodes are a little swollen too (still waiting for results). I woke up this morning with shooting pain in the left side of my neck (the side of the cancer). I've read on here about others who talk about imagined pain and how common this is when you get a diagnosis, but what if the pain is "real"? I'm not imagining this pain, and I still keep getting odd twinges of sharp pain now. Any advice anyone?
